The flow of energy in the body

Reflexology, Shiatsu and Watsu to me are strongly related to each other. They are all about the flow of energy in the body and about clearing energetic blockages. Watsu, Shiatsu and foot reflexology are body-conscious forms of therapy.

That’s why I like to combine the three methods. Over the years I have also discovered other techniques that complement the aforementioned forms of therapy. I have followed training courses for cranio sacral therapy (which I apply during the Zen-shiatsu session, for example) and the fascia release method, metamorfose massage among others.

While the Reiki flows in all my treatments, I could sometimes give you tips to stimulate this flow of energy with the help of Do-In exercises (Japanese yoga). At the moment I am studying Chi nei tsang, the belly and organs teaching of the Healing Tao.

Focus on (hormonal) transitions

Women are very powerful. A woman’s life consists of many different phases in which not only important life events play a role, but many hormonal changes take place as well. I feel privileged to be able to use my knowledge and experience as a bodyworker to guide and support women during these important periods in their lives.

My regular Shiatsu clients often approached me about care during labor. I have been offering this for almost 10 years now and that has been the reason for eventually following the training to become a Doula.

Because of my own (beautiful) experiences with carrying and having children, I can empathize well with pregnant women. During my pregnancies I always continued to work and study. So I know how hard it can be to combine work and pregnancy, with a busy schedule and the accompanying stress.

It gives me great satisfaction to help women. I focus on the ‘life stations’ (involving the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes), ‘rite of passage’ and various ‘bridges’ that we cross as women, as well as where they are at this moment (pain, ache, trouble, stress) and what they need.
