My name is Annemarie (32) and I’m teaching Yin/Yang yoga at the Rub. In 2012 I started to take serious yogaclasses in Amsterdam, Yin and Vinyasa. This was such an enrichment of my life that I’ve done the Vinyasa and Yin teacher training with Anat Geiger and Marcel van de Vis in the meantime. Besides I’ve done a meditation teacher training and different meditation retreats in the Netherlands and in Asia. So far, it’s really an inspirational and impressive journey. Some lows, but a lot more highlights. One of these highlights is that now the time is there to share my experience with you! Yoga has helped me develop a positive self-image, self-esteem and self-love. It has given me clear insights, especially during the turning inward in Yin yoga. It has given me time to listen to myself, to feel my heart and to live from there. My path got a little clearer and I could break old, non-helping patterns. I’m feeling more free and stronger now. Growing every day. Meditation and turning inward is very important for me. But before I can sit still and concentrate with a clear and calm mind, movement and physical activity is needed for me. Therefore, I’m combining Yin and Yang in my classes. Activity and relaxation. Turning inward and outward. Strength and calmness. This way you can take a step back and take an honest look at your thoughts, not identifying yourself with them. Observing your mind. Being in this exact moment, not in the past or the future. Just now, observing what’s happening inside of you. Inside your heart.
For me, that’s the real essence of yoga; connecting with your inner being and with the rest of the world, from your heart, with love.
